Sunderland returned to the English Premier League at the end of spring this year and won in the Championship play-off stage. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Now, the "Black Cats" team is striving to strengthen its squad. According to a source from Sky Sports, Sunderland aims to add Bayer club's midfielder Granit Xhaka to their ranks in the transfer market.
At the same time, as noted by the source, Sunderland will face competition for this transfer, as clubs from Saudi Arabia are also looking to recruit the 32-year-old Xhaka. Granit Xhaka has previously played in the English Premier League, having been active in the Arsenal team from 2016 to 2023.
The Transfermarkt portal values him at 12 million euros. Currently, Xhaka has a contract with Bayer that is set for another three seasons.
This situation could pose challenges for Sunderland and other interested teams. Therefore, the team needs to be active in the transfer market.
