Former player of the Moscow "Spartak" team, Yevgeniy Lovchev, shared his thoughts on the new season of the Russian Premier League. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He noted that five or six teams will compete for the championship. Lovchev also drew attention to the difference in the transfer policies of the "Spartak" and "Zenit" teams.
According to him, the "Zenit" team is purchasing world-class players, for example, they bought Jerson, while "Spartak" is mainly acquiring local players, such as Zabolotniy. There is a significant difference between the transfer activities of these two teams.
Last season, the Russian champion was the "Krasnodar" team for the first time. Previously, "Zenit" had secured the championship for six consecutive seasons.
"Lokomotiv" last became champion in 2018, "Spartak" in 2017, and CSKA in 2016. The Moscow "Dinamo" team last won the championship during the Soviet Union era, in 1976.
Thus, in the new season, the "Zenit" team is considered the main favorite, but other teams are also ready to show strong competition. The Premier League is continuously strengthening and providing exciting games for the fans.
