The Antimonopoly Committee of Uzbekistan initiated a case against "YandexGo UB" LLC based on the appeal of "Uzum Market" LLC regarding signs of violation of competition legislation. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the investigation, it was found that there were misleading signs associated with the "Uzum Market" brand in the "Yandex Market" advertisement. In particular, the actress's purple dress, initial shots, and the grape symbol were noted to be similar to previous videos of "Uzum Market".
Additionally, the main character's question, "Oh, is this a market?!" enhanced the audience's impression of "Uzum Market", while the actress's response, "No, this is another market," indicated the superiority of "Yandex Market". The committee assessed this situation as misleading comparison under Article 21 of the Law on Competition.
However, since no concrete economic evidence was presented regarding material damage caused by "Uzum Market", the situation was deemed to have a low economic impact, and no fine was imposed. Nevertheless, "YandexGo UB" was obligated to remove the advertisement from media within one month and to submit relevant documents to the Committee by August 14.
The dissatisfied party has the right to appeal to the Appeals Board or the court.
