BYD has introduced a new system that allows electric vehicles to be charged in 5 minutes

China's BYD company has taken an innovative step with its new electric vehicle platform. The company announced the launch of an updated platform with a 1,000-volt architecture. This new system reportedly allows electric vehicles to be charged at speeds comparable to refueling gasoline, according to Reuters.

According to BYD founder Wang Chuanfu, vehicles on the new platform can be charged with up to 1,000 kilowatts and can travel 400 kilometers after just a five-minute charge. This could certainly set new standards in the electric vehicle sector and attract many with the ability to charge batteries quickly and easily.

Wang Chuanfu stated that the first electric vehicles produced based on the 1,000-volt architecture will be the Han L sedan and the Qin L crossover. These models will also pave the way for many new opportunities and developments in the electric vehicle sector.

The company is also planning to build over 4,000 ultra-fast charging stations in China. This, in turn, will further facilitate the charging process for electric vehicles and ensure safety. However, the timeline for project implementation and the amount of investment are currently not disclosed.
