Perplexity, a startup in the field of artificial intelligence, has proposed to buy the Google Chrome browser for $34.5 billion. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The company stated that this decision was made to improve user security and support an open internet. So far, no official statement has been made regarding plans to sell Google Chrome.
Chrome has over three billion users worldwide and is recognized as the most popular browser. Perplexity emphasized that if the deal goes through, Google’s search engine will remain the default in the Chrome browser, but users will have the freedom to change their settings.
The company also announced its intention to continue developing the Chromium platform, which supports Chrome and other browsers. Experts are evaluating Perplexity's offer as below the actual value of the Chrome browser.
Some consider this offer a tactic to gain attention. Perplexity recently launched a new AI-powered browser named Comet.
Previously, the company had also made an offer to buy the TikTok version in the United States.
