According to Appfigures data, in July 2025, new installations of the X app on the Google Play store decreased by 44 percent compared to last year. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the same time, growth is observed on the iOS platform, TechCrunch reported. Overall mobile app downloads declined by 26 percent over the year, while in June this figure was 35 percent.
This decline is also negatively affecting subscriber revenues. In July, the net subscription revenue of the X app amounted to $16.9 million, which is lower than the $18.8 million in March but slightly higher than the $16.8 million in June.
The main revenue comes from advertising, but the decreased demand on the Android platform is slowing revenue growth. Experts emphasize that technical issues with the app are also contributing to this decline.
X product head Nikita Bier announced a competition for the "Android Dream Team" to redesign the Android app. Meanwhile, Meta Threads mobile apps are approaching the X app in terms of daily active users.
In the context of intensified competition, improving and stabilizing the user experience on the Android platform is of great importance.
