According to a new decision aimed at the social and economic development of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, it is planned to establish a special zone for cryptocurrency mining in this region. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The requirement is set forth in the President's decree "On accelerating measures aimed at the socio-economic development of the Republic of Karakalpakstan." According to the decree, by September 2025, it is necessary to develop a project for establishing a special zone for mining and implement it in practice.
In this area, the use of renewable energy sources for mining activities will be permitted. This is considered important to avoid environmental damage and to increase energy efficiency.
The special zone must be connected to a unified electricity supply system. Special tariffs for electricity will be introduced here, meaning prices will differ from those in other regions.
This will create favorable conditions for the development and support of cryptocurrency mining. The draft decision will be coordinated with relevant ministries and organizations by November 2025 and submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers.
These measures are considered important for strengthening the country's economy and opening new opportunities. Mining is a special process performed to account for cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, and only registered individuals are granted permission for it.
Mining activities without a permit are strictly prohibited in Uzbekistan.
