Meta wants to ease AI policy in California

Meta plans to establish a new super PAC to support the easing of regulations in the field of artificial intelligence in California. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This was reported by Politico. The news spread after Andreessen Horowitz and OpenAI CEO Greg Brockman announced a $100 million investment in a new pro-AI super PAC.

Meta intends to allocate several tens of millions of dollars to a new PAC called Mobilizing Economic Transformation Across California. According to Brian Rays, Meta’s Vice President of Public Policy and head of the new PAC, the regulatory environment in Sacramento could halt innovation, limit the development of artificial intelligence, and harm California’s technological leadership.

Additionally, Meta’s lobbyist Scott Viner campaigned this year against Senator’s SB-53 bill. This bill required AI companies to disclose safety and protection protocols and to submit reports when safety incidents occur.

Meta aims to implement light and effective regulation in the sector through the newly established super PAC.
