The US government has imposed restrictions on the activities of major South Korean chip manufacturers, including Samsung and SK Hynix, in China. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
From now on, these companies are required to obtain a special license to import the necessary equipment and technologies for chip production from the US. This decision is being implemented within the framework of broad restrictions introduced against China in 2022.
Previously, Samsung and SK Hynix were exempt from these rules, but now these permits have been revoked. The US government has announced that it will allow existing factories to operate, but licenses will not be granted for their expansion or the introduction of new technologies.
This represents a serious restriction for South Korean companies. Additionally, this measure also affects US chip equipment manufacturing companies.
Companies such as KLA Corp, Lam Research, and Applied Materials may reduce their sales volume in the Chinese market. The value of these companies' shares has also declined.
According to experts, this step serves to support local chip manufacturers in the Chinese domestic market. As a result, the development of the chip industry in China may accelerate.
