A new technological breakthrough has been achieved in the medical field in the United Kingdom. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
An “intelligent” stethoscope based on artificial intelligence has been developed and successfully tested. Created in collaboration between Imperial College London and the NHS Trust medical service, this device can detect a range of heart conditions in just 15 seconds.
Specifically, it is capable of identifying heart failure, arrhythmia, particularly atrial fibrillation, as well as problems related to heart valves. Unlike traditional devices, this new stethoscope not only listens to heart sounds but also performs electrocardiogram functions.
The device analyzes heartbeats, blood flow, and overall heart activity, sending the collected data to a smartphone via artificial intelligence for rapid diagnosis. The results of this device, tested on more than 12,000 patients, were highly rated by doctors.
The accuracy of detecting heart failure doubled, and the detection rate of atrial fibrillation tripled. Doctors emphasize that this technology will initially help identify heart diseases that progress without symptoms at an early stage.
This creates a great opportunity to improve quality of life and prevent serious complications.
