Basis Bay is exploring data center construction in Uzbekistan
Malaysia's Basis Bay company is exploring the possibility of building a data center in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to the World Information Agency, company specialists will visit the country soon to conduct an in-depth analysis of the IT market. Basis Bay's chairman of the board, Prabo Tiagaraja, met with Uzbekistan's ambassador Karomiddin Gadoyev in Kuala Lumpur to discuss investments in the data center sector within the framework of developing the digital economy.

As Tiagaraja emphasized, Basis Bay has established the only data center owned by a local resident in Malaysia. The company became a leader in this field by launching an eco-friendly "green" complex in 2009.

The parties agreed to organize a visit of Malaysian specialists to Uzbekistan in the near future. They will assess the IT services market and the possibilities for data center construction in the country.

At the same time, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Malaysia in February, during which he recognized digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors as promising development areas, is considered an important event. In July, during a dialogue with IT sector representatives, Green White Solutions founder Abdukahhar Toshmuhamedov highlighted the shortage of data centers in Uzbekistan that meet international standards.

He noted problems related to protecting clients' personal data and proposed establishing at least two data centers for government agencies – primary and backup. According to Oleg Pekos, the first deputy for digital technologies, the "Electronic Government" data center commissioned in 2022 was certified according to the Tier III international standard.

Additionally, "Uzbektelecom" plans to launch three more data center complexes in the cities of Kokand, Bukhara, and Ohangaron by the end of this year. These projects will contribute to strengthening the country's digital infrastructure.
