Lowest smartphone usage in Japan
In 2024, the average daily smartphone usage time per person in Japan was 1 hour and 47 minutes, marking the lowest time spent worldwide. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to a report presented by “Exploding Topics,” globally, people spend an average of 4 hours and 37 minutes per day on their phones. Each person checks their phone approximately 58 times a day.

The people of Ghana spend the most time on their phones – 5 hours and 43 minutes. Japanese users stand out by spending less than half the global average time on their phones.

One-third of Generation Z openly admit to spending excessive time in front of their phones. According to the data, people spend more than one day per week and about six days per month looking at their smartphone screens.

Over the course of a year, this amounts to approximately seventy days. Interest in phones is significantly higher on workdays compared to weekends.

Each person checks their phone an average of 58 times a day, with 52% of these checks occurring during working hours. This habit leads to frequent phone pickups.

The report emphasizes that half of all screen sessions start within three minutes of the previous use. Each time a smartphone is picked up, people spend an average of 1 minute and 15 seconds on it.

The ranking included 53 countries worldwide. Four South American countries ranked among the top ten highest users.

Additionally, three countries from the Southeast Asia region also made it into the top ten. Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, did not participate in this ranking.

These data reflect smartphone usage habits and their regional differences.
