According to Bloomberg, OpenAI has introduced a parental control feature for the ChatGPT service. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Now parents can restrict certain features for children and receive notifications related to signs of stress. This feature is activated through a special invitation sent to the child's email address.
This allows limiting voice mode, image generation, and access to previous conversations. Notifications are delivered via email, SMS, or the app, but children's messages are not disclosed to parents.
This decision was made following a court appeal by the family of a teenager who voluntarily passed away in April this year. The family emphasized that despite the teenager's messages, the emergency assistance protocol was not activated.
Additionally, OpenAI is developing a system to verify users' ages. This system will enable proper restriction of features in the future.
According to the source from Kursiv Media, the new control mechanisms are aimed at ensuring children's safety.
