OpenAI has introduced a parental control system for its ChatGPT platform. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to Bloomberg, with the help of new features, parents will be able to restrict certain services for their children. Additionally, parents will receive timely alerts to notice signs of stress in their children's mental state.
This system is activated through an electronic invitation, and parents can limit access to voice communication, image generation services, or previous conversations. Alerts are delivered via SMS, email, or a special app, but the child's private messages are not shown to the parents.
This decision was made following a lawsuit by the family of a teenager who committed suicide in the spring of 2023. During the court proceedings, OpenAI was criticized for failing to detect dangerous messages written by the teenager.
Moreover, the company is developing a system to verify users' ages. This system aims to make parental control more effective and ensure children's safety.
The new features will help parents raise their children in a safer online environment.
