Measures are being taken to restrict Telegram's activities in Russia

Measures are being taken to restrict the activity of the Telegram messenger in Russia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by the RBK publication based on sources from industry representatives and official agencies. It has become known that Roskomnadzor began practices to partially slow down Telegram's operation starting from February 10, 2026.
According to sources, some of the "slowdown measures" have already been applied, but official agencies have not yet commented on this. On February 9 and 10, Russian users complained about interruptions and problems with Telegram's operation.
Similar incidents were also observed in January and December. At the same time, Alexander Yushchenko, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Information Policy, stated that this issue has not been discussed in the committee.
According to him, if Telegram does not operate in accordance with legislative requirements, there is a possibility of blocking it. It is recalled that in 2018, the Russian Federal Security Service demanded decryption keys for messages from Telegram.
However, these demands were canceled in June 2020, and access to the messenger was again liberalized.
