Chinese scientists created a new lithium battery

Chinese scientists have succeeded in creating a new type of lithium battery that could bring significant changes to the electric vehicle industry. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This technology, developed by specialists from Nankai University and the Shanghai Institute, has set a new record in energy density. The energy density of the new battery is 700 watt-hours per kilogram.
For comparison, current modern batteries can provide at most 255 watt-hours of power. The main secret of this discovery lies in the use of a new liquid electrolyte containing fluorinated hydrocarbons.
Unlike traditional oxygen-based solutions, this fluorine-based electrolyte significantly accelerates the movement of ions and improves electrical conductivity. As a result, it is possible to increase the driving range of electric vehicles several times without increasing the battery weight.
Another important advantage of the new technology is its resistance to harsh weather conditions. Even at minus 50 degrees cold, the battery is capable of maintaining an energy density of 400 watt-hours.
This indicator helps to solve the main problems of using electric vehicles in cold climate conditions. According to experts, this invention can be widely used not only in the automotive industry but also in aviation, space technology, and robotics.
