The price of memory in Apple Mac Studio computers has increased, delivery delayed

Apple has announced significant changes for Mac Studio computers. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Now, the option to install 512 gigabytes of RAM on devices with the M3 Ultra chip has been temporarily canceled. Additionally, the company raised the price for memory upgrades from 96 gigabytes to 256 gigabytes from $1600 to $2000.
Due to these changes, delivery times for orders have been postponed until May. This information was provided by the playground.ru website.
This situation is directly related to the global semiconductor shortage. Currently, memory manufacturers are directing their production capacities towards manufacturing HBM memory required for artificial intelligence systems.
This has led to a reduction in the production volume of regular DDR5 memory. Large manufacturers like SK hynix have announced that warehouse stocks have sharply decreased and they will not be able to fully meet customer demand this year.
According to analysts' estimates, DRAM prices may reach record highs in the coming years. According to data from TrendForce, memory prices are expected to increase by more than 90 percent in the first quarter of 2026.
The reason is the huge demand in the artificial intelligence industry, as modern servers require large amounts of memory. This situation is becoming even more complicated for Apple.
Due to technical difficulties in producing the M4 Ultra chip, the company is currently forced to use only the M3 Ultra chip. Apple CEO Tim Cook acknowledged that the memory shortage will negatively affect the company’s revenue in the second quarter.
