Advertising activity on Telegram has sharply increased

Following warnings from Russian officials about potential restrictions on the messenger platform, advertising activity in the Telegram app surged sharply. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to a study conducted by CloudBuying and analyzed by Kommersant, the number of ad messages increased by nearly half compared to the beginning of last year and by fifteen to twenty percent compared to the start of 2026. This was reported by the Habr.com information resource.
Starting from February 10, an average of fifty thousand to fifty-two thousand ad posts began to be published daily on Telegram channels. The study covered over seven and a half million placements with a total view count exceeding forty-five billion.
Previously, the market had been in a relatively stable state with thirty thousand to forty-five thousand posts per day. The peak of advertising activity was recorded on February 12.
On that day, twenty-one thousand eight hundred ad posts received approximately seventeen million views. Market participants note that many advertisers accelerated their campaigns due to fears that new restrictions could disrupt their planned operations.
At the beginning of March, activity decreased slightly, averaging forty-four thousand to forty-five thousand posts per day. Another reason for this was linked to a statement made by the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service in March.
It stated that if access restrictions are introduced, the advertising system on Telegram could be contrary to national legislation. According to MTS AdTex, demand for the Telegram advertising system in Russia increased by an average of seven times in March compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, the minimum advertising price dropped by nearly thirty percent, making placements more affordable for buyers. Among the most active buyers are shopping malls, online stores, financial companies, insurance organizations, medical institutions, and media publications.
Analysts believe that the observed growth is likely temporary and reflects uncertainty in the market rather than long-term stable development.
