Spotify users create musical remixes with the help of artificial intelligence

According to a new partnership agreement between Spotify and Universal Music Group, listeners will now be able to create new interpretations and remixes of their favorite tracks using generative artificial intelligence technology. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
As part of this innovative project, the tools will be available exclusively to users of the paid subscription service as an additional feature. A key aspect of the system is that a portion of the revenue generated from AI-created musical works will be directed to the original authors and performers of the source material.
This was reported by influential publications. At present, the company’s management has not disclosed the exact pricing for the new service or the official timeline for its public release.
Last year, Spotify announced that it had begun working on modern practices to protect artists’ rights in collaboration with major record labels such as Sony Music Group and Warner Music Group. The company’s leadership emphasized that, unlike some startups, it intends to operate strictly on the basis of pre-agreed legal frameworks while fully respecting copyright.
According to Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek, the new system is built on the principles of mutual consent, proper attribution, and fair compensation. Lucian Grainge, head of Universal Music Group, described the initiative as an important step toward strengthening artists’ connections with their fans and creating additional revenue streams.
So far, it has not been fully disclosed which artists have permitted the use of their creative works for AI applications. This strategic move is expected to intensify competition among other music streaming services in the market.
While many other platforms have faced lawsuits for copyright infringement by major labels, Spotify has chosen to address potential issues directly by negotiating with rights holders. This approach creates a safe and legal environment for both creators and listeners.
During the presentation of recent updates, Spotify also announced several other technological innovations, including an AI-powered tool for preparing audiobooks, expanded capabilities for podcast creators, and a system for pre-booking concert tickets for the most active fans.
These developments indicate that the platform aims to evolve in the future not just into a music streaming service, but into a broad intellectual and entertainment hub.
