Companies that do not support passkey technology were criticized

Passkey technology, considered the most reliable way to protect accounts from hacker attacks in the digital world, is becoming widespread. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
However, according to industry experts, many large services are in no hurry to switch to this standard. The newly established whynopasskeys.com project has publicly criticized companies that do not provide this modern protection method and published a list of them.
Techcrunch.com reports on this. Passkeys are considered significantly more secure than traditional passwords because they are created directly on the user's device and are linked to a specific website or application.
This technology relies on biometric data such as face scans, fingerprints, or physical security keys. Most importantly, the user does not need to remember complex passwords, which reduces the risk of data theft to almost zero.
Why are some large companies on this list? According to TechCrunch, one out of every four major apps today still does not support the passkey system.
Interestingly, the list includes globally famous services such as Instagram, Netflix, and Spotify. For example, while Facebook and WhatsApp within Meta have this function, Instagram users can only use this feature if they have linked their accounts to Facebook.
The project founder, renowned cybersecurity researcher Scott Helme, noted on his blog that the purpose of creating this site is to put pressure on companies. In his opinion, public criticism forces companies to care about user security.
No one wants to be on such a list. Currently, tech giants like Apple, Google, and Microsoft are setting an example in the field of security by fully implementing passkey technology.
These companies are providing users with the ability to completely abandon passwords and access the system solely through biometric data. This technology is also very important for Uzbek users, as it provides reliable protection against attacks aimed at stealing accounts.
The main advantages of passkey technology include: no need to remember or store passwords.
Fast access via biometric protection. Hackers cannot steal keys remotely.
Secure storage on the device itself. So far, services like Netflix and Spotify have not provided an official explanation as to why they are not implementing this standard.
Experts predict that passwords will become a thing of the past in the coming years and all major platforms will be forced to switch to the passkey system. Users are advised to be vigilant regarding the protection of their data.
