Samsung is producing a new generation of smartwatches

South Korean tech giant Samsung is actively working on its next flagship smartwatch — the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the latest information circulating online, the new device is expected to feature not only the brand’s but possibly the entire market’s most advanced display and battery life specifications. Although external design changes are expected to be minimal, internal technical upgrades will be a real gift for users.
According to information provided by well-known insider Ice Universe, the main highlight of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 model will be its AMOLED display. The device’s maximum brightness is estimated to reach a record 5000 nits.
For comparison, the current first-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra model has a brightness of 3000 nits, while the Garmin Fenix 8 Pro model reaches 4500 nits. This innovation will allow the watch to be used effortlessly even under direct sunlight.
The new generation display technology Samsung plans to achieve this result by using a new OCF OLED panel showcased at MWC 2025. These panels, developed by Samsung Display, are 20 percent brighter and significantly more energy-efficient than their predecessors.
Most importantly, even when operating at 5000 nits brightness, the display consumes the same amount of energy that previous-generation panels used at 3000 nits. Another important update relates to the device’s power source.
It is reported that the battery capacity will increase from 590 mAh to 800 mAh — an increase of approximately 36 percent.
The combination of an energy-efficient display and a larger battery could extend the watch’s usage time on a single charge from the current 60 hours to as much as three to four days. This is a crucial metric for active lifestyle enthusiasts and travelers.
Durability and Release Date The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is designed for extreme conditions, featuring IP69K-rated protection and maintaining a 10 ATM water resistance rating. This means the watch is safe not only for showering but also for swimming in open water.
The device, with its rugged build and high-tech capabilities, will enter serious competition with Apple Watch Ultra — currently its main rival in the market. According to preliminary information, the official unveiling of the new smartwatch will take place on July 22 of this year.
On that day, Samsung is also expected to unveil its new foldable smartphones — the Galaxy Flip 8, Galaxy Fold 8, and Galaxy Fold 8 Ultra — to the public. This event will undoubtedly be one of the brand’s biggest tech showcases of 2025.
It is worth noting that Ice Universe, the source of these leaks, has previously accurately predicted the iPhone X design, iPhone 14 changes, and Samsung’s 200-megapixel sensors, establishing a reputation as a reliable insider.
