"Threads" social media platform intensifies competition with new features

Meta's Threads social network has significantly updated its live conversations feature and opened access to a broader audience, Zamin.uz reported.
This update is expected to further strengthen the platform's competition with X in the real-time conversations space. Users can now use automatic translation services during conversations and manage chats more efficiently.
Among the new capabilities, the most important is the automatic translation of chats. This removes language barriers for global users, enabling people from different countries to communicate freely in the same space.
According to network data, this step will help the platform gain popularity among international users. Moderation tools have also been improved.
Live conversations are now open not only to regular users but also to community leaders. This group includes active individuals who have a large following on their pages and regularly organize engaging discussions.
Additionally, conversation organizers can now invite up to three co-hosts to assist in managing the chat. Another important update for organizers is the ability to delete messages for everyone.
This simplifies maintaining order and ensures adherence to chat etiquette. At the same time, experiments are underway to visually distinguish the organizer's messages.
Currently, in a live conversation room, up to 150 participants can simultaneously post messages, images, videos, and links. If the number of participants exceeds this limit, newcomers are switched to observer mode.
They can read messages and participate in polls, but cannot send text messages. When Threads was first launched, real-time conversations and chronological feeds were criticized for their absence.
However, the platform quickly addressed these shortcomings. The live conversations feature now introduces a unique format not available in competing networks.
This makes Threads even more dynamic and interesting. The company plans to roll out two more significant updates in the near future that users are anticipating.
These include adapting live conversations for the desktop version and the ability to pin important messages to the top of the chat. It is worth noting that, according to the data, the number of monthly active users of this social network has exceeded five hundred million in the current month.
