Microsoft is reducing reliance on external AI models
The deployment and maintenance of artificial intelligence technologies are becoming increasingly costly, prompting major global tech companies to reassess their economic strategies. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

Microsoft Corporation has begun implementing a new strategy in this area, significantly reducing its reliance on external partners such as OpenAI and Anthropic for software solutions. The company is now focusing on developing its own AI models and expanding their internal use.

This was detailed in a report by TechCrunch. According to information distributed by Bloomberg, Microsoft has applied its own AI models to process certain user queries in widely used products like Excel and Word.

Previously, core tasks within the Office 365 suite were largely handled using models from OpenAI. Today, the corporation is gradually pursuing a path toward technological independence.

While Microsoft has not yet completely abandoned external partner services, it has significantly accelerated the development of its own AI agents. At the recent Build conference, the company unveiled seven new AI models to the developer community.

Among these releases are tools that convert text commands into images and specialized assistant systems for programmers. These steps enhance the company’s internal capabilities.

These changes are not limited to Microsoft alone. In the global tech market, major companies such as Amazon, Uber, Meta, and Accenture are also reviewing and seeking to reduce their spending on AI services.

The extraordinarily high costs in this sector have even prompted serious reconsideration among the world’s largest and most powerful corporations. The price of AI services in Silicon Valley has become such a financial burden that some companies have begun turning to models developed in China as a more affordable alternative.

Although this shift raises certain data security concerns, the pursuit of economic efficiency and cost savings is increasingly taking precedence in many cases. Microsoft representatives have so far refrained from disclosing detailed information about this new strategy.

However, according to analyses by industry experts, shifting to proprietary models offers the company not only cost reduction but also the ability to maintain full control over its products. This, in turn, ensures greater stability and independence for Microsoft’s ecosystem in the future, reducing reliance on external factors.
