President Mirziyoyev Reviewed Water Saving Projects in Surxondaryo

During his visit to Surxondaryo region, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, familiarized himself with the activities of the "Tomorqa School" in the Termiz district. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During this visit, water-saving technologies and projects aimed at providing profitable employment for the population were reviewed. On February 26, 2026, the official website of the President provided information about the expansion of the practice of harvesting from home gardens three times a year in Surxondaryo.
The head of state closely examined locally produced equipment and machinery used in water management. The possibilities of reducing costs by manufacturing water-saving technologies and modern irrigation systems locally, as well as the efficient use of water resources under climate change conditions, were emphasized.
For this reason, the president specifically noted the need to pay more attention to this direction and to strengthen scientific cooperation. The "Tomorqa School" is not only an educational center but also a practical school specializing in teaching the population how to use home gardens effectively, introduce high-yield crop varieties, and learn methods of product processing.
The main goal of the project is to provide unemployed and low-income families with a stable source of income. Scientific foundations of farming and modern home gardening methods are taught here.
The school covers the districts of Termiz, Muzrabot, Qiziriq, Bandixon, Angor, and Jarqo‘rg‘on. It includes an educational building, a greenhouse, and a training-experimental area.
Various crops adapted to the Surxondaryo climate are cultivated in the greenhouse. Seedling production and floriculture have been established here, and a drip irrigation system has been implemented.
Notably, the practice of harvesting three times a year is taught here. Scientists and industry specialists are involved in the educational process.
So far, nearly 1,300 citizens have completed the courses and have started effectively utilizing their home gardens. Assistant governors direct many landowners to attend training every month.
Students have the opportunity to cover their tuition costs through a referral system. This process demonstrates practical methods for planting high-yield crops and earning income from one sotik of land.
