The central bank has denied reports that it is planning to issue a 500,000-som banknote.

Recently, rumors have been circulating on social networks and various messengers about the alleged introduction into circulation of a new banknote with a denomination of 500 thousand sums by the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This information sparked widespread discussion and various speculations among the public. However, representatives of the Central Bank officially stated that these rumors are completely unfounded.
It should be emphasized that the circulating information has no legal or logical basis. At present, the issue of introducing into circulation new-design or high-denomination banknotes is not on the agenda in our country.
According to the current legislation, under Article 40 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Central Bank," the right to put into circulation and withdraw banknotes and coins belongs exclusively to the Central Bank. It should be noted separately that new banknotes can be introduced into circulation only after consideration and approval of the relevant decision by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
If such a decision is adopted, detailed information about the design, security features, and date of introduction into circulation of the new banknote will be announced to the public through official sources and mass media. In this regard, the Central Bank appeals to citizens not to believe unverified information spread through unofficial sources and to rely only on official information.
Any changes in the monetary and credit policy of our country are implemented within the legal framework and in an open manner. Currently, the banknotes in circulation are fully sufficient for cash circulation, and there is no need for additional high-denomination money.
It is also important to remember that spreading false information among the population may entail legal liability. It is recommended to monitor accurate and reliable information through the official website of the Central Bank and verified pages on social networks.
