Aliyev called Russia to account for the tragedy
President Ilham Aliyev made a strong statement regarding the tragedy that remained unanswered for seven months in Azerbaijan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He announced that the AZAL airline, which belongs to the country's airways, intends to appeal to international courts regarding the plane crash. According to the President, official Baku has thoroughly investigated the incident and collected all evidence and proofs.
However, no response has been received from Russia so far. As Ilham Aliyev emphasized, Azerbaijan knows well what happened and is ready to prove it.
However, the silence from Russia for seven months is incomprehensible. According to the President, it is not only about shedding light on the truth but also about making specific demands.
Among them are punishing those responsible for the crash, compensating the families of the victims, and covering the material damages incurred by the AZAL airline. Aliyev expressed critical views on the neighboring country's position while stating that Russian officials are aware of the incident.
He stated that if the situation had been different, Azerbaijan would have already made its demands and taken necessary measures. However, currently, silence and neglect are considered wrong, even threatening.
Additionally, the President emphasized that Azerbaijan is ready to utilize all international legal mechanisms and is prepared to wait patiently for as long as it takes for justice to be restored. Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani public and political circles are deeply concerned about the incident.
Citizens are demanding that the memory of the deceased be honored and justice be established. Aliyev's statement is expected to provoke serious discussions not only regionally but also internationally.
