Kellog: The US wants to restart relations with Russia
The US is trying to restore relations with Russia amid the ongoing war in Ukraine. During his speech at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington on March 6, US Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, Kit Kellog, explained this initiative as an effort to protect national interests and to prevent the US from being drawn into an "endless proxy war."

America is ready for dialogue with Russia

Kellog emphasized that the US is taking urgent measures to improve relations with Russia, aimed at achieving a peace agreement by the Trump administration. According to him, the White House plans to exert pressure on both sides to end the war.

"So what you are seeing and witnessing right now is the urgent efforts of the Trump administration to bring both sides to the table for a peace agreement," Kellog said.

Strategies for exerting pressure on Russia

The US is prepared to implement a series of economic and political pressure measures against Russia. Kellog provided several examples in this regard:

  • Imposing new sanctions against Russia's "shadow fleet."
  • Seizing frozen Russian assets and redirecting them for Ukraine's reconstruction.
  • Exerting maximum pressure on the Russian energy sector.

These measures could have a serious impact on the Russian economy, but their outcomes remain uncertain.

Accusations of halting intelligence sharing with Ukraine

Kellog also commented on the suspension of intelligence sharing with Ukraine. CBS journalist Margaret Brennan highlighted that this decision could be a significant advantage for Russia and have serious implications for Ukrainian forces.

While discussing this, Kellog stated that Ukraine should take responsibility for halting intelligence sharing. In his view, this decision was made in alignment with US interests.

Kellog's remarks reflect the US's desire to reassess its relations with Russia. While Washington is working on a peace agreement, it does not intend to abandon increasing pressure on Russia in the process. At the same time, the issue of intelligence cooperation with Ukraine remains contentious. The outcomes of this new US strategy will be revealed over time.
