In his speech, Chancellor Merz emphasized that Israel's actions towards civilians in Gaza are contrary to humanitarian norms. The German government is putting forward two main demands to resolve the conflict.
The first is to cease fire; the second is to provide full and effective humanitarian assistance to the population of Gaza. Friedrich Merz stated that he is maintaining regular personal contacts with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on this matter.
