The risk of a strong earthquake in Istanbul is increasing

In recent decades, there is information that the likelihood of a strong earthquake occurring in Istanbul may be between 40 to 60 percent. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This threat is causing concern not only for the residents of the city but also for the future of the ancient metropolis, which is famous worldwide. Istanbul has approximately over 40,000 historical and cultural heritage sites, among which the Great Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and many historical buildings along the Bosphorus could suffer significant damage from an earthquake.

Experts emphasize the need to take necessary measures in a timely manner to preserve and strengthen these heritage sites. However, disagreements and political divisions among the political parties managing the city complicate this process.

The lack of cooperation between the People's Republic Party and the Justice and Development Party, conflicts in resource allocation, and differences in strategic plans are making it difficult to protect historical monuments. This issue is widely discussed among the public.

It is acknowledged that political unity, the application of modern technologies, and the use of international experience are essential for the future of Istanbul. Therefore, warnings about the risk of a strong earthquake should prompt not only the city leaders but also the entire society to take additional measures.

Preserving historical heritage and being prepared for natural disasters should become a common responsibility for every citizen.
