Gaza War: Catastrophe and International Criticism Intensifies
The Gaza War, which began on October 7, 2023, has become one of the bloodiest and most complex conflicts in the Middle East. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

As a result of the attack organized by Hamas on Israel, more than 1,200 people were killed, and 251 individuals were taken hostage. This event had a significant impact on Israel and the entire world.

During the war, which has lasted for more than two years, the situation has become even more complicated, and international criminal accusations have emerged against both sides. The military actions of Israel in Gaza have led to a great catastrophe.

International organizations and independent observers are providing credible evidence of violations of the law committed during the war. Among these crimes are the starvation of the population, negligence in ensuring the safety of civilians during military operations, and the destruction of cities.

The World Health Organization condemned the attacks on medical facilities in Gaza. In recent weeks, the advance of Israeli troops into the city of Deir al-Balah has triggered new waves of displacement.

Additionally, the entry of international journalists into Gaza is being restricted, making it difficult to provide accurate and independent coverage of the war. Palestinian journalists are bravely carrying out their work, with 200 of them having been killed.

Israel's main allies are also losing their patience with it. In a joint statement signed by the foreign ministers of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the European Union countries, and Japan on July 21, Israel's policies that have led to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza were sharply criticized.

They assessed the work of the Humanitarian Fund established to assist the people of Gaza as unstable, dangerous, and contrary to human dignity. The statement specifically noted that more than 800 Palestinians had died while receiving aid, and this situation was highlighted as a violation of humanitarian laws.

The UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy also sharply criticized Israel in this regard. The Israeli parliament is set to go on summer recess in the coming days.

This break will provide Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a short-term opportunity to rest. He is currently under constant pressure from the ultranationalists within his coalition government.

They are firmly opposed to stopping the war in Gaza. If Netanyahu agrees to peace, he may lose the support of his allies in the government, which could lead to new elections and his removal from power.

He may also face criminal liability in connection with the events of October 7 and corruption cases. There is also a possibility of achieving peace against the backdrop of war.

This is not only a matter of life and death for the people of Gaza but also for Israeli citizens held hostage by Hamas. However, peace is not the end of the war but an interim stage that stops violence and creates conditions for diplomatic negotiations.

If the international community, particularly countries like the United Kingdom and France, makes a firm decision to recognize the state of Palestine, it could be a significant step towards resolving the long-standing conflict politically.
