Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is planning to organize a meeting between the leaders of Russia and the United States in Istanbul to discuss an agreement on the Ukraine issue. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
President Erdogan stated that in recent weeks he has discussed the possibility of a meeting between Putin and Trump during conversations with both leaders. The meeting could be significant in stabilizing the situation in Ukraine and setting new political steps.
On Wednesday, negotiations for a ceasefire were held for the third time between Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul. However, no significant results were achieved from this dialogue, as the parties did not make any statements regarding new agreements or developments.
According to Rustem Umerov, the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Kyiv has sent a proposal to Moscow to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin by the end of August. However, there has been no official response from the Kremlin to this proposal, and no decision has been made regarding a meeting between the two state leaders so far.
At the same time, Erdogan's proposal to bring the Russian and US leaders together in Istanbul demonstrates Turkey's important role not only in regional but also in international politics. The holding of this meeting and the implementation of agreements are expected to play a crucial role in stabilizing the war in Ukraine.
