Local sources say that during the intense firefight, three militants were eliminated. The official statement from the 15th Corps in Srinagar emphasized that the operation is still ongoing and the situation is under full control.

The area where the shooting occurred, Pahalgam, is considered one of the popular spots among tourists. This area is one of the disputed territories between India and Pakistan, currently under Indian control.

The local population is predominantly Muslim, and thousands of tourists visit this area annually. Investigations and security measures have been intensified, and residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary movement.
