The Chinese government has introduced a new financial assistance program aimed at increasing the population due to declining birth rates. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the state’s leading news agency “Xinhua,” families with children under 3 years old will receive an annual payment of 3,600 yuan, which is approximately 500 US dollars. This assistance is intended for children born between 2022 and 2024, and it is expected to cover up to 20 million families.
Official data indicates that in 2024, 9.5 million babies were born in China, which represents nearly a twofold decrease compared to 2017. The government is developing a new program similar to “mother capital” to combat the declining birth rate.
According to economist Zichun Xuan, this assistance may not lead to significant changes in birth rates or domestic market consumption in the short term. However, this initiative marks the beginning of a new era in providing direct financial assistance to the population and creates opportunities to increase the volume of transfers from the state budget.
From 1979 to 2015, China implemented the “one family – one child” policy. Particularly in rural areas, families with two children were deprived of social benefits.
Now, the government is placing significant emphasis on supporting families with multiple children. These measures are aimed at preventing demographic crisis and ensuring the country’s future labor resources.
This will serve the stable development of the Chinese economy and society
