In Australia, it is planned to ban the use of the YouTube platform for those under 16 years old in order to ensure children's internet safety. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to a report by Reuters, based on the results of a survey conducted in the country, 37 percent of minors encounter harmful content on YouTube. This initiative may come into effect in December 2025.
If the decision is made, thousands of children under 16 in Australia will be deprived of the right to use this platform. According to statistical data, 75 percent of children aged 13-15 actively used YouTube.
For this reason, the government considers it important to protect this age group. Previously, similar restrictions were also imposed on social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, and Snapchat.
Experts emphasize that these measures are necessary to safeguard children's mental health and protect them from moral and informational threats. Parents are advised to pay constant attention to how their children use the internet.
Such steps regarding internet safety are crucial for the healthy and safe development of the younger generation
