On July 31, 2025, the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, was once again subjected to a large-scale attack. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The Russian army inflicted damage on the city with missile and drone strikes during the night. According to official information, 13 people were killed in the attack, including a six-year-old child.
City Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported that 30 injured individuals were hospitalized, and another 97 received outpatient assistance. Initial reports indicated a lower number of casualties, with the number of injured exceeding 50.
Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv military administration, emphasized that as a result of the attack, over 100 buildings, including residential areas, schools, kindergartens, and universities, were damaged. In the Svyatoshinsky district, one entrance of a nine-story building was completely destroyed.
According to the military aviation sector of the Ukrainian armed forces, a total of 309 drones and eight cruise missiles were sent to Ukrainian territory by Russia. The military reported that five missiles hit their targets directly, and drone strikes occurred in 12 locations, with drone debris falling in 19 spots.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga emphasized that it is time to increase pressure on Russia and force it to cease fire. In his opinion, the possibilities for a constructive approach with Putin have run out.
Sibiga recalled that President Trump had been patient and conciliatory with Putin, trying to seek a solution. He noted the necessity of coordinating all sanctions and ensuring peace through strength.
The attack on Kyiv on July 31 was the fourth major strike in the capital within the last month. On June 17, 28 people were killed in the city, and over 130 were injured.
This attack has gone down in history as the incident that caused the highest number of casualties since the combat operations began in Kyiv. Until the summer of 2025, the Russian army had not attacked the Ukrainian capital with such intensity.
New attacks are further exacerbating the security problem in Ukraine. Each strike complicates the situation in the country and poses a significant threat to the lives of the peaceful population.
For this reason, the international community must take more active measures to ensure peace and reduce the conflict.
