Nasma Ayad gently strokes the hair of her weak daughter Jana in a hospital in Gaza City. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
She is anxiously waiting for her daughter to be medically evacuated from Gaza, but time is running out. According to Nasma, her daughter is weakening and her health is deteriorating before her eyes every day.
Eight-year-old Jana Ayad has become a symbol of frail, underage children. She weighs only 11 kilograms and is struggling to see, speak, and stand up.
In the conditions of Gaza, there is almost no possibility to treat complex illnesses due to food shortages, lack of medical supplies, and many services being halted because of the war. According to nutrition specialist Suzan Marouf, Jana's body is swelling due to protein and food deficiency.
Jana's sister Jouri was also in critical condition. She died on July 20 due to kidney failure and hunger.
Nasma tried to evacuate both of her children, but this intention did not materialize. Although the Gaza Ministry of Health included them on the evacuation list, the process was not completed.
The United Nations and international humanitarian organizations are assessing the situation related to hunger in Gaza as catastrophic. According to official data, 156 people have died due to hunger so far, 90 of whom are children.
This situation poses a serious threat to human life and demands immediate assistance from the international community
