Former US President Donald Trump is planning to start major renovation and reconstruction work at the White House. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The scale of this work is unprecedented in the last half-century, with a total cost of 200 million dollars. A large portion of the funding will come from Trump's personal contribution and undisclosed sponsors.
According to the project, a new modern ballroom will be built during the renovation process. Currently, there is no permanent venue in the White House for holding large official events, so external tents will be set up for grand ceremonies.
The area of the new ballroom will exceed 8,000 square meters and can accommodate 650 guests. This is three times more than the current capacity of the East Room.
This expansion will create the opportunity to host official receptions and international delegations appropriately. The new structure will be built near the East Wing, which was constructed in 1902.
This wing houses the offices of First Lady Melania Trump and senior officials, and it will also undergo modernization as part of the renovation work. Melania Trump has already vacated her office, and her new office location will be determined later.
The construction work will be carried out by experienced organizations. The architectural firm McCrery Architects, the construction work by Clark Construction Group, and engineering services by AECOM will be involved.
The work is scheduled to begin in September of this year. As White House representatives have emphasized, the funding for the ballroom construction will come solely from Trump and undisclosed sponsors.
The lack of government funding indicates that the project has private and political significance.
