In Kazakhstan, a driver's license certification may be introduced every 10 years

In Kazakhstan, over 31,000 road traffic accidents involving injured individuals were recorded in 2024, according to Finratings.kz. Senator Marat Kojaev believes that the high number is related to the insufficient training of drivers.
In a request addressed to Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov, the senator proposed to review the system of training and monitoring drivers. According to him, drivers will be required to undergo certification once every 10 years.
Kojaev's main proposals:
Strengthening state control over driving schools.
Introducing a probation period for new drivers.
Mandatory completion of advanced training courses 6 months after obtaining a driver's license.
Checking traffic rules and practical training every 10 years.
Transferring the process of issuing driver's licenses under the Ministry of Internal Affairs control.
Establishing special Traffic Centers and autodromes in all major cities and district centers.
Additionally, the senator made proposals to improve road infrastructure. These include constructing multi-level pedestrian crossings, enhancing lighting systems, building sidewalks, and accelerating the creation of bypass roads in major cities.
