A significant event has occurred in the global energy market. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The prestigious British Petroleum (BP) company has discovered one of the largest oil and gas fields identified in the last quarter of a century near the shores of Brazil. The new field has been named "Boomerang."
It is located in the Santos basin, 404 kilometers away from the city of Rio de Janeiro in the southeast of the country. According to reports, the field is situated beneath a salt layer in the Atlantic Ocean.
BP acquired the rights to explore this area in December 2022. Specialists drilled a well at a depth of 5855 meters and identified significant reserves over an area of more than 300 square kilometers.
Another important aspect of the discovery is the high level of carbon dioxide. This situation may complicate the extraction and processing processes and increase costs.
Therefore, BP is conducting additional laboratory research and thoroughly studying the potential of the field. "Boomerang" is the tenth oil and gas field opened by BP in 2025.
The company continues to discover new fields not only in Brazil but also in Trinidad, Egypt, the Gulf of Mexico, Libya, Namibia, and Angola. The new discovery is of great significance not only for Brazil but also for the entire global energy market.
Effectively harnessing the wealth hidden beneath the ocean's salt layer is expected to further enhance BP's scientific and technical capabilities and international standing. In the future, the company plans to expand the production of mineral products from the "Boomerang" field with the help of additional research and new technologies.
It is clear that this news will intensify competition in the energy sector and broaden prospects.
