A Chinese citizen committed suicide while in custody in Pennsylvania

A Chinese citizen, Chaofeng Ge, was found dead at the Moshannon Valley Processing Center detention facility in Pennsylvania, USA. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to ABC News, he was detained by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Ge had been placed in the center just five days prior.

32-year-old Chaofeng Ge was discovered hanging in the shower. During the investigation, a letter he wrote was found, and it was revealed that there were no signs of foul play.

The incident is being assessed as a suicide. Reports indicate that Chaofeng Ge was arrested in January on suspicion of credit card fraud and had admitted to the crime.

He was sentenced to 6 to 12 months of imprisonment but was transferred to the ICE center by court order. The ICE press service stated that medical and psychological evaluations are conducted for all detainees.
