New events are unfolding in world politics. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In particular, a significant diplomatic initiative has been put forward by the United States regarding the long-standing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine. According to sources from the Polish publication Onet.pl, a closed meeting took place in Moscow on August 6 between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American businessman Steve Witkoff.
During this meeting, a beneficial proposal presented by the Donald Trump administration was discussed. The proposal includes several key points, such as temporarily halting military actions, recognizing Russia's current territorial control in Ukraine, and lifting the economic and political sanctions imposed on Russia.
Additionally, plans are in place to restore long-term energy cooperation and to resume imports of gas and oil from Russia. At the same time, no official guarantees have been provided regarding limiting NATO's expansion or halting military assistance to Ukraine, although it is reported that the Russian side has expressed agreement on this matter.
Official sources have not yet confirmed this information. Both sides are approaching the political processes with caution.
When Steve Witkoff arrived in Moscow, Donald Trump was ready to convey his demands to the Kremlin. If the demands are not met, the USA has indicated that it will impose taxes on countries purchasing Russian oil, which is seen as a step to exert pressure on the Kremlin.
After the meeting between Trump, Witkoff, and Putin, proposals to organize trilateral negotiations with European allies were discussed. Trump announced his intention to hold a direct meeting with the presidents of Russia and Ukraine from August 11 to 17.
Russian President Vladimir Putin took this proposal seriously and suggested holding the meeting in the United Arab Emirates. He also expressed his readiness to meet with the Ukrainian president but emphasized the need to create conditions for this meeting.
According to Bloomberg, Trump plans to discuss issues of ceasefire and territorial exchanges during the negotiations, but the specifics of this exchange are not yet clear. As previously stated by Vladimir Putin, if Ukrainian troops completely withdraw from the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions, Russia is ready to cease fire.
It should be noted that although these regions have been annexed to the Russian Constitution, they are not fully under control. Currently, the global community is closely monitoring these processes.
If these initiatives are implemented, the armed conflict that has caused the most casualties in the world could come to an end. Therefore, the events that will unfold in the coming weeks will have a significant impact not only on Europe but also on global politics.
