Since the beginning of this year, extensive measures have been taken against channels and groups on the Telegram messenger that violated rules or distributed illegal or harmful content. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to official information from the messenger, in the first seven months of 2025, the platform blocked more than 20.9 million channels and groups in total. Although the exact reasons for the closure of channels are not fully detailed on Telegram’s website, such measures are usually applied in cases of spam distribution, fraud schemes, or posting content that violates moral standards.
At the same time, the platform regularly monitors its space to keep it free from dangerous and harmful activities. Telegram’s founder Pavel Durov has also paid special attention to this issue.
According to him, recently some channels have been found to engage in extortion, blackmail, or spreading false information for a fee. Therefore, the platform has implemented a policy to quickly identify and remove such channels.
On July 27, 2025 alone, the messenger’s administration blocked more than 402 thousand channels and groups. This figure reflects Telegram’s global control and strict measures aimed at maintaining a clean interactive environment.
Experts emphasize that such large-scale blockings serve not only to keep the platform clean but also to ensure the safety of ordinary users. It is also noted that in some cases, legitimate channels may be closed, which is addressed during the messenger’s review process.
Telegram’s strict policy is regarded as an important step in controlling the information space on the internet and effectively combating harmful content. This situation once again reminds millions of channels operating on the platform of the necessity to strictly comply with the rules.
