The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Kallas, shared her views on Russia's recent actions and the peace negotiation process. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to her, Moscow has no intention of stopping the conflict in the near future and is artificially prolonging the negotiations. As Kallas emphasized, Russian President Vladimir Putin is trying to justify himself by dragging out the talks.
She stated that Russia left Anchorage without making any commitments to stop the killings and violence. Additionally, Kallas highlighted that the United States has the ability to compel Russia to engage in genuine and serious dialogue.
The European Union, in cooperation with Washington and Kyiv, is actively working to ensure a stable and long-term peace. According to her, Moscow can only stop the war when it realizes that it cannot continue it.
Furthermore, the European Union expressed its intention to increase pressure on Russia. The EU will introduce a new, 19th sanctions package to continue providing assistance to Ukraine.
Kallas's statement once again confirmed the common position of Western countries: achieving peace requires not only negotiations but also pressure and firm political measures. So far, it appears that Moscow is not ready to change its policy.
