Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy will travel to Washington on Monday to meet with US President Donald Trump. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He will be accompanied at this meeting by German Chancellor Friedrich Mers, French President Emmanuel Macron, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The European leaders are working together to support Zelenskiy and provide Ukraine with strong security guarantees.
During the meeting, issues such as assistance against Russian aggression, territorial disputes, and economic sanctions will be discussed. Last week, Donald Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
According to sources, Putin expressed readiness to freeze the front lines, demanding that Ukraine cede a large part of its eastern territories. However, Zelenskiy rejected this proposal.
The participating countries aim to organize a trilateral meeting between Trump, Putin, and Zelenskiy. Their main task is to provide guaranteed support to Ukraine and increase pressure on Moscow if necessary.
At the same time, Russia is not giving up its demands. Putin is demanding full control over Donetsk region and is warning Europe against stirring up trouble.
Zelenskiy emphasized the importance of immediately stopping the fighting to end the war.
