
On August 17, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During this conversation, bilateral and internationally significant issues between the two countries were discussed. Russian President Putin provided information about the main outcomes of the Russia-US summit held in Anchorage on August 15.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed hope that the situation around Ukraine would be resolved soon. He also emphasized the necessity to accelerate trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and to continue efforts to implement new joint projects.
The importance of active dialogue and exchange of experience at all levels was particularly noted. On August 15, a meeting between Trump and Putin took place in Alaska, USA.
The negotiations lasted two hours and 45 minutes, but no agreement was reached on the Ukraine issue. Putin assessed these talks as productive and stated that Russia is ready to work with Ukraine on security matters.
Additionally, on June 27, at the Eurasian Economic Union summit in Minsk, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Vladimir Putin met and discussed the Ukraine issue. On July 8, they communicated once again by phone.
Kazakhstan President Tokayev called Putin’s meeting in Anchorage a historic summit and emphasized that the leaders of the two countries are ready to conduct practical negotiations to stop the war in Ukraine.
