Due to severe hot weather in Spain, 20 large forest fires are occurring. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
After firefighting efforts became complicated, the government mobilized an additional 500 military personnel. In the Galicia region, several fires merged, turning into a large fire covering a vast area.
Because of this situation, some roads and railway services were temporarily suspended. In the past week, the fires have claimed the lives of three people and destroyed more than 115 thousand hectares of land.
Additionally, forest fires are spreading widely in Portugal as well, causing significant damage. According to experts, in some areas, the air temperature may rise up to 45 degrees.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez emphasized the seriousness of the situation and announced the deployment of additional military forces. Officials expect the weather to cool down slightly starting Tuesday.
For now, the high temperatures and dry weather are complicating the fight against the fires.
