This event was entered into the Russian record book as the largest mass start, as more than 11 thousand athletes participated at the starting line. In total, over 30 thousand people took part in the event, according to the Daily.afisha publication.
According to Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow, the "Garden Ring" race became the first continuous marathon route. The largest free start in the 16-kilometer run through the city center set a Russian record.
The official also emphasized that public interest in such sporting events is increasing year by year. Their goal is to raise attention to sports and help people spend their free time meaningfully.
Participants in the competition had the opportunity to choose the distance according to their abilities. A 500-meter distance was offered for children, while experienced athletes were offered a 16-kilometer route.
The winners and prize-winners of the competition were awarded cups and commemorative gifts. Events like these make a significant contribution to popularizing sports.
