US Secretary of State Marco Rubio gave an interview to Fox News after an important meeting at the White House. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to him, in order to conclude a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia, both sides must be prepared to make some concessions from their positions. Rubio emphasized that in the peace process, the true goals of each country must be clear, and important steps should be taken to achieve negotiations and agreements aimed at ending the war.
Marco Rubio also stated that agreements on land issues and borders will be the main topics where discussions on where and how the war will end will take place. He noted that both sides will not reach a decision where one hundred percent victory is achieved, but each side must obtain a result acceptable to them.
This process can be difficult and sometimes unfair, but it was emphasized that only in this way can the war be ended. According to the US Secretary of State, the terms of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia will be determined by mutual agreement of the two sides.
The United States is assisting in conducting the negotiations and helping the parties reach a proper agreement. Additionally, on August 18, American President Donald Trump held a meeting at the White House with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders.
The details of the talks between Trump and Zelensky have not yet been officially announced, but according to several sources, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that the Donbass region should be handed over to Russia from Ukraine. Ukraine, on the other hand, is firmly in favor of protecting its territorial integrity.
Trump announced that after meeting with Putin, he began preparations for a meeting with Zelensky. According to him, this meeting could be an important step toward resolving problems between the two countries and achieving complete peace.
