A two-year-old child tragically died after being left in a car seat in China. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The incident occurred on May 1, 2023, but the court proceedings concluded recently. The “South China Morning Post” published information about this event.
On the day of the tragedy, the father was driving with his wife and two children. The child was sitting alone in a special child seat in the third row, while the sister and mother were in the second row.
When the sister lowered the seat, the child's head was severely trapped between the seat. As a result, the child lost consciousness and bruises appeared on the body.
Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors determined that the child had already died due to brain injury and lack of oxygen. This event caused great sorrow and shock for the parents and the local community.
The parents demanded compensation and an apology from the car company. According to their claim, the car did not have an automatic return function, and the company did not provide sufficient warnings.
The family demanded a payment of $280,000, which includes medical expenses, psychological support, and compensation. The car company rejected the claim, emphasizing that their products meet all industry standards and have passed China’s mandatory quality tests.
The Pudong District Court found the tragedy to be due to the parents’ negligence. Judge Si Shaojun stated that the company is responsible when customers use the product under normal conditions.
The most important safety measure for children is responsible supervision by the parents. Following the court’s decision, the parents’ claim was legally dismissed.
This incident serves as an important warning for parents. It reminds once again that every action and supervision is crucial in ensuring children’s safety.
