Famous Croatian diver Vitomir Marichich set a world record by holding his breath underwater for 29 minutes and entered the Guinness World Records. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This result was recorded on June 14 at the pool of the "Bristol" hotel in Croatia in the presence of official Guinness representatives. According to information, Vitomir used a special method to prepare his body to the maximum before diving.
He breathed pure oxygen for 10 minutes to prepare his body for the challenge. This process is called denitrogenation in medicine.
This method is based on removing nitrogen from the blood and saturating the body with oxygen beyond the normal level. As a result, oxygen dissolves not only in red blood cells but also in plasma, increasing the body's air reserves.
Therefore, it becomes possible to stay underwater for a long time. Vitomir Marichich's record exceeded that of the previous Croatian diver Budomir Shobat by about five minutes.
Thus, Croatian athletes once again proved that they are leaders in extreme sports.
